Italian job for Navan
There was an Italian flavour to Navan's 2013 St Patrick's Day parade in the town as large crowds turned out to watch the event.
While Italy proved too strong for Ireland in the rugby yesterday, there was some consolation for the Irish today when the women won the Six Nations Grand Slam with a narrow victory over their Italians counterparts.
With honours even and with an Italian at the helm of our great soccer team, there was plenty of warm welcomes for the visitors from Apollonia, Sicily who added a quick step or two to the beat of the parade with some lively music.
The presence of the Itialian visitors really enhanced the aims of the organising Navan Shamrock Festival with the theme - an International Gathering of Cultures.
Italian and Irish tricolours were flying proudly during the march through the town.
