Minors get Laois in quarter-final
Meath minor footballers got back into the Leinster MFC with a fine 1-17 to 2-10 victory over Longford at Pairc Táilteann this evening.
Meath's reward for tonight's victory is also a tie against Laois in the quarter-fianl on Saturday 11th May.
While the victory was thoroughly merited, Meath showed an inability to finish off the opposition at crucial times in the secopnd-half after elading by 1-8 to 0-4 at the interval.
Meath also lost dual player Charlie Bird who limped off in the opening half with an injury that could rule him out of Saturday's Leinster MHC second round for Meath against Laois.
Laois defeated Longford by 1-9 to 0-6 in the first round while Meath lost by 3-8 to 6-10 against Offaly.
Against that background, this was an encouraging display by Meath tonight and they are now only two games away from a return to another Leinster decider.
