Juvenile final delayed at Skryne
Ratoath won the u-14 FC Div 1 title this evening at Skryne with victory over Trim, but the decider was overshadowed by an alleged incident that forced the referee to stop the game for more than five minutes.
Ratoath negotiated Trim by 5-8 to 3-3 which made amends for their defeat a few weeks ago by Na Fianna at Páirc Táilteann in the u-14 Féile Div 1 final.
However, the game was halted in the second-half when an incident took place behind the goals at one end of the pitch and an umpire was allegedly assaulted.
It is understood that a member of An Garda Siochana was present and intervened.
A thrilling first-half ended with two goals from Jamie Donnelly giving Ratoath a 2-5 to 1-2 interval advantage, but Aaron Lynch's strike gave Trim hope.
That hope was boosted by a point 35 seconds after the resumption but that proved to be a false dawn and despite goals from Brian Dowling and Lynch Trim struggled as Ratoath wrapped up the title with further goals from Leigh Sullivan, Tom Fadden and Donnelly.
