Hurlers earn another chance
Meath hurlers dug out another chance of a Christy Ring Cup final ticket when they earned a battling 1-25 to 2-22 draw with Down in the semi-final at Trim today.
This was a tough encounter with both teams giving 100 per cent.
Wind-assisted Down were ahead by 2-11 to 1-9 at the interval, but Meath tied it up in the second-half to force extra-time as it finished Meath 1-20 Down 2-17.
There was no let up in extra-time as the teams slugged it out - point for point with the game finishing in a draw.
The sizeable crowd applaued both teams off the pitch following a great tussle.
Steven Clynch was Meath's top scorer with 15 points while Paul Braniff scored 2-5 for Down.
The replay will take place next Saturday - it could be at a neutral venue, but it may also be at a Down venue.
The decision will be made on Monday as no plan appears to be in place in the event of a draw.
Kerry await in the final on Saturday 8th June after they defeated Kildare by 1-14 to 0-9 in the other semi-final today.
