Over 4,000 Meath students sitting exams
It was D-Day today for more than 4,400 families across Meath as the State examinations got underway this morning with English Paper One.Some 4,418 Meath students are sitting the Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate examinations in 19 schools around the county, joining the 116,841 candidates nationwide who began their examinations today.
A total of 2,012 students are taking theLeaving Certificate in Meath and 99 of those are taking the Leaving Certificate Applied exam.
They include students of Colaiste na hInse, Laytown, the first batch of students from this relatively new school to have completed the Leaving Certificate cycle.
Among those doing the Leaving in Meath are 944 girls and 969 boys, while 38 girls and 61 boys are taking the Applied examination.
There are 2,406 students sitting the Junior Certificate in Meath, 1,175 of whom are girls and 1231 boys.
Over 4,800 superintendents countrywide have taken possession of the boxes The examinations run until Thursday 20th June for Junior Certificate subjects and Friday 21st June for Leaving Certificate subjects.
The written examinations in the Leaving Certificate Applied programme finish on Thursday 13th June.
All written examination papers in this year’s examinations will be published on the website on the evening that the examination is completed.
Leaving Certificate results will be issued on Wednesday 14th August and the on-line results service will be available from 12 noon on that day.
Junior Certificate results will be issued in mid-September and the on-line results service will be available from 4pm on that day.
