MDL Premier title destination almost resolved
Two months after the season ended the destination of the Meath & District League title moved a step closer to a resolution yesterday when the FAI dismissed an appeal by Duleek.
The issue arose after Duleek played a suspended player in a league game against Rock Celtic and subsequently claimed that they had not been properly informed of the status of the player.
Duleek appealed the MDL's decision to award the points to Rock Celtic to the LFA (appeal fee €200).
The LFA upheld the MDL decision.
Duleek appealed the LFA decision (fee €500) to the FAI.
The FAI upheld both the MDL and LFA decisions.
The FAI also stated that the onus was on Duleek to check the status of a player who had been sent off in a game if they felt they had not been made aware of any disciplinary action.
Duleek have the option of going to arbitration next.
It is understood that the fee for that is somewhere between €2,000 and €4,000. Duleek have until 10th July (estimated date as it would be 10 days from latest decision) to decide.
