Solicitor Turns Snake Charmer
Navan solicitor Adrian Shanley was hailed a real hero by his neighbours recently when he came to the rescue when a large snake caused consternation in Academy Street.
He proved himself quite a snake charmer when he persuaded the reptile, which onlookers estimate could have been up to five foot long, into a cardboard box.
The drama began when a number of lchildren noticed the snake coming up from a drain in Academy Street.
Hayley Curran who runs local business, Ebony Rose, said that she became aware of it when Adrian came to her shop door and told her he was closing it because there was a snake outside.
“We looked out and saw the snake coiling around on the footpath! Adrian took a basket from outside the shop and out it over the drain, to stop the snake going back down.
“He then got a long cardboard box from the shop and he persuaded the snake into it,” she said.
It has been confirmed that the snake was a pet owned by a local woman, which had gone missing a short time earlier.
