Tayto better than Hunky Dory!
Everything will be 'hunky dory’ for Meath on Saturday when they tackle Tyrone in the fourth round of the All-Ireland SFC in what will be a first knock-out game this year for the Royal County.
That’s according to Meath captain Kevin Reilly (pictured), who will lead his players out into the cauldron of Croke Park on Saturday evening for the big football game of the weekend with a determination to keep the dream of All-Ireland glory alive.
The Navan O’Mahonys clubman believes Meath can handle the challenge that Tyrone will pose in this fourth round game although he admits the players will have to find some improvement on their Leinster final performance against Dublin two weeks ago.
“We were in a good position against Dublin and we didn’t capitalise, but we have learned from that and we have the ability to win this game,” he said this week.
“Our next target is to negotiate a way past a very experienced Tyrone team. We have restored our reputation to some extent, but we have to build on that now.
“It was very disappointing to lose the Leinster final and we want to make up for that; this game on Saturday will give us that opportunity,” said the Meath captain.
“We have played Ulster teams in the league this year so we know what to expect from Tyrone and we will be ready.
“Tyrone were very defensive against Kildare and they counter very quickly; we try to play a more open direct type of game. Tyrone will try to stop us doing that, but they might also have to adjust their style to cope with us.
“You have to remember also that Kildare had Tyrone on the ropes in the second-half and didn’t put them away.
“Maybe we will do what Kildare couldn’t do. We have the players who can make an impact and Saturday night will be our chance,” the Meath captain added.
