Late Quirke point seals it for O'Mahonys
They left it late but Navan O'Mahonys did enough to carve out a narrow 3-6 to 0-14 victory over Trim in this SHC encounter at Athboy today with the help of an extra-time point from David Quirke.
With three quick-fire goals from Duggy Dillon, Vinny Moore and Derek Loughran O'Mahonys led 3-1 to 0-8 at the break.
However, they just couldn't shake off a tenacious, spirited Trim side in the second-half and they had to relie on Quirke's late intervention to seal their win.
The influential Damien McGee showed the way for a young, spirited Trim side with 0-8. James Toher also gave an excellent display and contributed two points however O'Mahonys pushed on to make it four wins from four outings and set themselves up for the knock-out phase.
On Sunday evening Kiltale got the better of Kimessan 1-18 to 1-12 also in the SHC at Ratoath.
