Book of Condolences opens for well-known farmer
A book of condolences has been opened in the Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells, following the tragic death of Michael O’Keeffe, a well known figure in the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) both nationally and locally.
Mr O’Keeffe (59) of Creevagh, Crossakiel, died in a farm accident on Friday evening. His sudden and tragic death has been met by shock and sadness across the region.
As well as being a successful farmer, Mr O’Keeffe was very involved in the St Vincent de Paul Society. He was a member of the organisation’s national management council and was about to conclude a term as president of the North-East Regional Council of the society.
He has been described by St Vincent de Paul members as “a towering figure in the organisation”.
Mr O’Keeffe’s funeral Mass will take place at Kilskyre Church at 11am on Wednesday morning followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
