Navan teams start soccer season well
Navan teams started well in the opening round of games in the new Meath & District League season last night with big wins for Navan Cosmos and Navan Town.
Cosmos proved too strong for Torro Utd in the Kilmessan Shield and won by 7-1 while Navan Town got the better of neighbours Robinstown in the same competition by 4-1.
Navan Cosmos made easy work of Torro Utd with a 7-1 win as both Lee Duffy and Lar Ivers grabbed a hat-trick each with Conor Walsh also finding the net. Andy Tolan scored for Torro.
Donal Callan and Cathal Smith put Navan into an early lead before Brian Brereton scored a penalty for Robinstown just before half time. Adrian Dowdall and Dave Gavin made sure all three points were going to stay with Navan Town s they won by 4-1.
However, OMP Utd were held to a 1-1 draw by Fordrew Rovers.
Kilmessan enjoyed a great 1-0 win over Bohermeen Celtic in the O'Neill Shield.
