Ratoath salvage a win and make quarter-finals
Ratoath did enough to take the spoils at Longwood tonight with a 2-9 to 0-11 IFC victory over Ballinabrackey in the final round of Group C games.
However, manager Eamonn Barry will be looking for lots of improvement the next day as Ratoath drifted in and out of the game and were fortunate to an extent that Ballinabrackey managed a dozen wides.
Early goals from Bryan McMahon and Joey Wallace made the difference for Ratoath as both teams managed 11 scores.
Ratoath were ahead by 2-4 to 0-4 at the interval and Ballinabrackey closed the gap to only two points (0-11 to 2-7) with five minutes remaining, but Ratoath found enough to add on a few late points.
Ratoath will play either Gaeil Colmcille or Donaghmore/Ashbourne in the quarter-final. Those two teams play in Navan on Saturday evening 4.30.
