Longwood shocker for Kiltale
It was a bad week for defending champions with Kiltale exiting the race for the senior hurling crown this evening in Navan when they were sent into the departure lounge by Jekyll and Hyde Longwood.
Last Sunday evening Navan O'Mahonys exited the football championship to Summerhill and this time around it was the Longwood hurlers who produced a sensation.
Longwood won by 1-22 to 2-16 after trailing by 1-7 to 2-12 at the interval and it was a sensational, unbelieveable, fantastic, superb, exhilerating (any description you like) performance by Longwood with Anthony healy scoring 13 points.
Longwood will now meet the other shock-troopers, Kilmessan, who won despite playing most of thes econd-half with 14 men after Darren Reilly received a second yellow card.
Kilmessan won by 3-15 to 2-13 after trailing by 1-6 to 1-7 at the interval.
The SHC final will be played on Sunday 6th October.
