Kilmainhamwood crowned kings

Kilmainhamwood took the spoils following a well-contested Junior D FC final at Bohermeen's Sean Newman Park today when they proved too strong for a brave Seneschalstown side by 3-8 to 0-10.

For Seneschalstown this was a disappointing result as the club's second team was defeated in the Junior B FC semi-final last night and officials were hoping for a change of luck for the third team.

Seneschalstown also lost a B FL final last weekend.

However, today at the Bohermeen venue, which was in pristine condition and a credit to the St Ultan's club, Kilmainhamwood packed too much experience and were ahead by 0-5 to 0-3 at the interval.

An early second-half goal from former Meath forward Ray Magee gave Kilmainhamwood a solid platform for success and another experienced campaigner, Larry McCormack, converted a penalty soon after.

Seneschalstown kept batttling and reduced the deficit to 0-10 to 2-7 with four minutes remaining, but the winners added an insurance point and then put a little bit of gloss on the display with a late David Rissell goal.
