The Meath Chronicle can exclusively reveal that A FL Div 2 champions and Keegan Cup finalists Na Fianna can claim innocence for any allegations that Meath Co Board may level at them about alleged damage to the silverware that was presented on Sunday and that they didn't play an ineligible player either!
Na Fianna may be hauled before Meath Co Board disciplinary committee following Sunday’s A FL Fiv 2 final victory over Gaeil Colmcille at Pairc Tailteann?
And Meath Co Board may be considering slapping a fine on the Enfield/Baconstown club for the costs of repairs to the cup?
However, Na Fianna should be able to muster a strong defence with a suggestion that the Co Board officials were actually trying to pull a 'quick one’ by presenting faulty silverware, although technically, when the trophy was handed over, it appeared to be in good condition.
Interestingly, it wasn't a Meath Co Board official who handed over the trophy - maybe that was part of the plot?
Seconds after Na Fianna’s Michael Foley and Tommy Cosgrave received the trophy, one handle fell off.

Another twist is that Gaeil Colmcille officials may be considering the possbility of a protest about the player who was listed on the Na Fianna team sheet as Tommy Cosgrave!
A prominent Gaeil Colmcille official, who did not wish to be identified, contacted the Meath Chronicle with a query about the talented Na Fianna number 14 who, he alleged, wasn’t the same guy who had played the previous week in the Keegan Cup final against Summerhill.
“It wasn’t the same guy, the number 14 against us was a good footballer, the guy the previous week certainly looked different, he had a beard for starters,” stated the Gaeil Colmcille official.
A Na Fianna official, who also wanted to remain anonymous, suggested that the Tommy Cosgrave from the A FL Div 1 final was more handsome looking that the Tommy Cosgrave from the Keegan Cup final.
He also refuted suggestions that Na Fianna broke the cup although he also wanted to remain anonymous - “It was a reflection on the Co Board, it was broke,' he commented.
Representations were also made to Meath Co Board chairman Conor Tormey about the matter and it may be on the agenda for next Monday night's monthly meeting?
