Sinead Burke co-opted to Navan Town Council

Sinn Féin’s Sinéad Burke, was co-opted onto Navan Town Council this week to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of former Mayor, Caoimhe Ní Shluain, who resigned from the council at its October meeting, due to work and education committments.
Cllr Burke said it was a great honour and privilege to accept the position.
“As a person who was born and raised in Navan, I am very humbled by the faith and trust that has been shown in me to represent Sinn Fein on this council.
“As a community worker in the town for the past 10 years, I have witnessed first hand the hard work, progressive outlook and committed nature of all of our councillors, council officials and town manager”.
She said she loved Navan. “I am proud to be from this town and even prouder to represent it. I hope that my experience working with marginalised organisations and volunteer groups informs my work,” she said.
“Even though the prospect of being a town councillor is somewhat overwhelming, it is also one of great pride and excitement. I will endeavour to represent the people of Navan to the best of my ability,” she said.
Cllr Burke, who is running as a Sinn Fein candidate in the new seven-seater Navan electoral area in next year’s local elections, lives at Dunmoe, Navan. She is married with two children and has worked for the Meath Travellers Workshop for the past 12 years. She was director of the recent Tara High Kings Festival.
