Meath may start next month

Meath senior football manager Mick O'Dowd could be selecting a team for the Gaeil Colmcille-promoted Fitzsimons Cup at the beginning of December if the tournament goes ahead.

Meath GAA Co Board have sanctioned the tournament, subject to a number of regulations, and the dates for the games are Sunday 8th December and Sunday 15th December.

Joining Meath in the four-team tournament will be Louth, Cavan and Offaly although the draw for the two semi-finals has not been finalised yet.

Last year Offaly took the trophy when they got the better of Meath in the decider by 0-16 to 0-13.

This year will the third year of the tournament since it was revived after a lengthy break in 2011.
