Trim Celtic sink the Bull
Trim Celtic followed up on their Leinster Junior Cup victory at the weekend with another knock-out success last night under the lights at Monasterboice where they defaeted Blcak Bull by 4-0 in the Meath & District League Challenge Cup.
First round cup games against teams from a lower division can often prove tricky, but Trim Celtic put in a solid enough performance to advance on a bitterly cold and windy night.
Trim dominated the opening exchanges and were rewarded after 20 minutes when a superb ball from Sean Fitzgerald was controlled magnificently by Daryl Kelly and he finished well.
Kelly was again involved in Trim’s second when his trickery inside the penalty area drew a foul from the Black Bull centre half and James Goggins made no mistake from the penalty spot.
Black Bull upped the tempo in the second-half but the game was sealed when substitute Mantas Morkunas headed home from close rang with 25 minutes remaining.
The fourth goal came after good work from James Goggins down the left found Sean Fitzgerald who made no mistake.
Trim Celtic - Danny Connell, James Goggins, Keith Jones, Paul Munnally, Damien Clarke, Mick Corrigan, Craig Peppard, Mark Leavy, Aaron Ryan, Sean Fitzgerald, Daryl Kelly. Subs - Mantas Morkunas for Mark Leavy, Colm Stoey for Craig Peppard, Stephen Moriarity for Aaron Ryan.
