GAA raceday a big success
The Meath GAA raceday at Fairyhouse this afternoon was a big success and is likely to be repeated as supporters flocked to the venue as the Co Board sold 132 tables at the inaugural fundraiser.
There will be a brief report on the event at tomorrow night's annual convention in Navan O'Mahonys, but the feedback is bound to be positive following what was described by a number of patrons as 'a most enjoyable afternoon.'
With tables priced at €850 per table, the gross yield from the event will be over €110,000 which should put a bit of a smile on the treasurer's face, although that is not guaranteed.
There was a Meath flavour in the winners' enclosure when Longwood-based trainer Gordon Elliott won the Bar One Racing Drinmore Chase with Don Cossack.
