Navan claim rugby bragging rights
The north east bragging rights belong to Navan for the immediate future after they defeated Boyne 28-3 in the AIL Div 2B at Shamrock Lodge this afternoon.
The victory was as emphatic and deserved as the scoreline suggests with the visitors producing the more controlled rugby throughout.
Dominant in the scrums Navan led 13-0 at the break with the help of a Conor Brady try. Player/coach Alan Kingsley also contributed two penalties and a conversion.
Boyne's only score arrived early in the second-half when former Navan player Niall Kerby fired over from a penalty kick in front of the posts.
Navan however took control from then on with Simon Hogan waltzing his way in for a touchdown converted by Kingsley.
In the closing stages sustained pressure from the visitors resulted in an Even Culhane try. The conversion was missed by Kingsley but it didn't matter a deserved victory was already secured.
