Golden girl faces more surgery after Christmas
Lyndsey Conway who lives in Ashbourne, faces more knee surgery after Christmas as she continues her rehabilitation programme following an injury she sustained at the World Taekwon-Do Championships in Spain a few weeks ago where she won two gold medals for Poland.
She achieved that remarkable feat when she won two gold medals (for Poland) at the ITF Taekwon-Do World Championships in Benidorm, Spain.
However, there was a major negative side to her success as she sustained a serious knee injury in the third of the three competitions in which she was competing and was disqualified.
“It was an early round and my disqualification left the way open for the team reserve to take my place, it was tough, but at least the team went on to win a gold medal in that event also,” she commented this week.
She returned to Ireland subsequently from her base in Lublin, Poland where she teaches English and has already begun the recovery progress after one operation on the injured knee.
'I have to have more surgery after Christmas, but so far it's going well and I'm only on one crutch at the moment,' she added.
Lyndsey is originally from Ratoath.
