Number is up for the GAA!

Maybe it's too early to be making requests to the GAA for some changes, but as the Association sanctioned a major change by introducing the new black cards, maybe they might consider sanctioning a late alteration that would make it easier to identify players from distance.

Using the DIT students from today's game against Meath in the O'Byrne Cup as as an example, perhaps the GAA might instruct kit suppliers to make numbers on jerseys clearly visible from a distance of up to 100 yards.

Not meaning to have a dig at poor KIlkenny either, but thankfully I rarely have to report on a Kilkenny game - the numbers on their jerseys are brutal in relation to clarity - the worst of the lot.

But the DIT jerseys weren't great today either (see photos) as it was difficult to make out the numbers of some players from the media centre in Pairc Táilteann.
And it would be a simple problem to rectify.

There are some clubs in Meath that fall down in this regard also - like Dunshaughlin and Dunboyne.

And then there is the inability of club officials to give number 5 on the team list the number 5 jersey, he usually wears number 7 while 8 will wear 9 and 12 will wear 10 and so it goes.....

Maybe it's too early in the year for all this, but I feel so much better now that I had a bit of a whinge!

What will the IT Carlow jerseys be like for Wednesday night next under the Pairc Tailteann illuminations?? - looking forward to it already.
