Keane and Lyons in Meydan frame
Trim jockey Colin Keane continued to enhance his reputation when he made his debut in Dubai today at Meydan where he finished third in a group two race for Kiltale-based handler Ger Lyons.
Keane was on board his big race Galway winner Brendan Brackan in the one-mile contest and was only narrowly edged out of first place by three-parts of a length and short head.
There was some compensation for the connections of Brendan Brackan as the third place money was worth over €100,000.
Lyons also had another runner, Tennessee Wildcat in a seven-furlong handicap with Gary Carroll on board, but they were unplaced in the valuable contest.
Ger Lyons is one of the 12 monthly winners in the 2013 Sportsperson of the Year awards that will be presented next Friday night (17th January) at Knightsbrook Hotel, Trim.
