Conditions were difficult for football today in Baltinglass.

Meath to face DCU in O'Byrne Cup semi-final next Sunday

Meath made a rewarding trip to rain-lashed Baltinglass today where they made it three wins in-a-row with a 4-11 to 2-5 victory over hosts Wicklow in the third round of the O’Byrne Cup.

Despite the difficult conditions Meath produced some positive football and were ahead by 2-6 to 0-3 at the interval with the goals coming from Navan O’Mahonys duo, David and Stephen Bray.

Meath remained in the ascendancy in the seocnd-half as further goals from Damien Carroll and Dalton McDonagh helped Meath into a 4-8 to 0-5 advantage.

However, Wicklow produced a late rally with goals from James Sheehan and Sean Furlong, but Meath added points, including a rare Seamus Kenny score, for a merited victory.

Meath will now host  DCU in the semi-final of the O’Byrne Cup in Navan next Sunday. DCU defeated Dublin by 3-8 to 0-16 this afternoon.
