Hall of Fame award for Fintan Ginnity
There was a surprise for former Meath GAA Co Board chairman Fintan Ginnity at tonight's seventh annual Meath Sports Awards when he was informed at the start of the gala evening by MC Evanne Ni Chuilinn that he was recipient of the Hall of Fame award.
The former chairman was completely surprised by the award and in a short interview on stage, after he received a standing ovaton from more than 350 guests, told the patrons that there had been some great times for Meath football during his stewardship.
“I have great confidence that Meath are on the way back, Mick O'Dowd is doing a good job, but he didn't tell me anything about this and he was sitting beside me, then he presented it to me, I'll have to see about that,” added the former chairman.
The Meath Chronicle / Cusack Hotel Group annual awards were introduced in 2007 following an initiative by the late John Cusack to recognise the achievements of local (Meath) sportspeople.
