Slane shedding stones!
The people of Slane are already beginning to look sleeker and more svelte as Slane Operation Transformation proves to be a great success.
Upto 60 local people are participating in the nine week long programme. Keith Matthews of Kmattfitness gives his free time to organise five walks a week and both the Conygham Arms Hotel and the Olde Post Office have put on special low calorie menus for the duration of Operation Transformation.
With the particpants following the diets of the leaders on the RTE television programme it has led to a combined weight loss for the group of 133lbs or nine and a half stone.
Dermot Smith of Smiths Pharmacy did the weighs in and there are prizes from Tankardstown House, Solataire Hairdressers The Olde Post Office and Slane Credit Union.
The organiser Adelle Kelly McAdam said 'I am absolutely thrilled with the way people have really taken to it and did not expect anything like the level of participation.
'Not alone are people losing weight and getting fit but they are enjoying themselves.'
