Kentstown in line to renew rivalry
Kentstown Rovers take on Gorey Rangers in the last 32 of the SFAI u-16 encounter at Kentstown on Saturday, 1.0 with a opportunity to renew an old rivalry in the next round.
If they defeat their Wexford opponents the Kentstown boys could be in line for a re-match with Cork rivals Corinthians who they faced last season in a controversial u-15 SFAI encounter.
Corinthians travelled to Kentstown last February and won the u-15 game 2-1. However, it transpired that the referee had only played 35 minutes instead of the 40 minutes that was stipulated for matches in that grade.
Kentstown made an appeal to the Schoolboys' Association of Ireland at a cost of 500 euro however it was dismissed and the result stood.
Corinthians are due to play Limerick side Mungret Regional FC this weekend and if they win their game and Kentstown also succeed the re-match will be set up.
This year's Kentstown u-16 team is managed by Shaun Doyle and contains all but two players that made up last year's Rovers' u-15 side.
