Gruelling event planned for Trim
The Tri an Mhi club will stage their second Trim Castle Duathlon this Sunday, 30th March with a large number athletes expected to test themselves in the stamina-sapping running and cycling routines.
Earlier this month the first ever duathlon was held in Trim when 78 athletics participated in the gruelling event.
A number of local athletes did well with Bohermeen AC’s Derek Croal securing sixth place. Geraldine Gill, also from Bohermeen, was the second woman home while Trim AC’s Ellen Vitting was fourth in the women’s section.
The duathlon consists of a 4km run around the Porchfields followed by a cycle of approximately 20 miles.
The cyclists will start in Trim and take in a course that includes Rathmolyon, Laracor and back to Trim.
Participants will then have to turn their attentions to taking part in a 3km run which will finish at Trim Castle.
The entry fee for the Duathlon is 20 euro.
