Moynalvey edged out in Dunsany

Donaghmore / Ashbourne got out of Dunsany this afternoon with a flattering 1-13 to 0-10 victory over Moynalvey in a thrilling SFC first round encounter played in front of a big crowd.

The winners were ahead by 0-6 to 0-5 at the interval, but were fortunate not to concede an early second-half goal when Moynalvey’s Padraig Harnan was denied by a superb block on the goal line by Jason Boland.

Andrew Tormey scored a goal for Donaghmore / Ashbourne on the stroke of full time and that added some extra gloss to what was a far from inspiring performance.

However, the win is what was important and Donaghmore / Ashbourne will go into the next game against Keegan Cup holders Summerhill in a confident manner.

Moynalvey will have to pick themselves up to deal with the challenge of Rathkenny in the next round.
