President to visit Moynalty on Saturday
President Michael D Higgins will visit Moynalty on Saturday to unveil a plaque to mark the village’s achievement in winning the National Tidy Towns Award last September.
He is due to arrive in the village at 11am where he will be met by the local Tidy Towns Committee.
A ten foot high replica of the Tidy Towns trophy has been erected in the centre of the village and there is plaque underneath, which the president will unveil.
A stage will be erected in the village, which will be closed to traffic for a period and the President will be greeted by Moynalty Tidy Town’s chairman, Peter Rogers. Anthony Clinton will act as MC for the occasion.
Last September, the village was named Ireland’s Tidiest Town in the National Tidy Towns competition, 30 years after collecting its first award in the national competition in 1983 for its window boxes.
