Connaught Telegraph joins up forces with Celtic Media Group for a brighter future!
We, the Meath Chronicle are happy to announce that Connaught Telegraph has been bought by Celtic Media Group and are now a part of our Celtic Media Group family. By acquiring Connaught Telegraph 11 jobs have been saved as well as the viability of one of the country’s oldest newspaper titles.
Celtic Media group have a range of publications, consisting of four weekly regional newspapers including ourselves, The Anglo Celt, Westmeath Examiner and Westmeath Independent as well as two free newspapers. The Group, employing over 125 people, is also a substantial newspaper printer, including the Irish Mirror and Sunday Mirror.
Speaking on the day of purchase, Frank Mulrennan, CEO of Celtic Media Group said “We are delighted that a newspaper with a publishing tradition back to 1828 will now be joining our company. We look forward to investing in the future of this fine title.”
Celtic Media Group has been a pre-press and print service provider to Connaught Telegraph since 2011 and has operated the title under a licence agreement with the liquidator over recent weeks. CMG look forward to developing the title on all platforms – publishing, digital and social.
