Death of Navan football legend, Patsy Ratty

The death has occurred suddenly of Patsy Ratty, who was a part of Meath's 1954 All-Ireland winning panel, and a key Navan O'Mahonys figure both as a player and committee member.

Winner of an All-Ireland JFC medal in 1952, his collection of trophies includes seven SFC and five Feis Cups with O'Mahonys.

He was the first O Mathuna stalwart to be selected as an Irish Independent Sports Star of the Week, when he scored seven of Meath's eight points against Armagh in the NFL semi-final of 1956.

Husband of the late Patsy, he is survived by his family,  John, Siobhan and Patrica, sister May, brother-in-law Vincent, sons-in-law Henry and John, daughter-in-law Cepta, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Reposing in the Fitzsimons Funeral Home today (Wednesday) from 4pm till 8pm. Removal on Thursday morning at 9.30am to Saint Mary's Church for 10am Funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
