Mary Bellew, Navan and Castletown

There was great sadness following the death on 7th May last of Mary Bellew, Troytown Heights, Navan, at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan. Mary (nee Moonan) was formerly of Pearse Park, Drogheda, and Knightstown, Castletown, and was predeceased by her husband, Paul Bellew, in 2009.

Deceased was actively involved in a number of community and sporting organisations in the Castletown and Wilkinstown areas. An ardent follower of Castletown GFC, she was honourary president at the time of her death. She was also a member of both Wilkinstown and Castletown Active Retirement Groups. Mary enjoyed playing the card game whist in Wilkinstown and around the county.

In the past she was also a leading committee member of the Castletown Running Club, Castletown Boxing Club and the Castletown Ladies Committee. Mary was also a past member of the Meath Diocesan Choir and travelled abroad on a number of occasions with the group. A skilled seamstress, Mary worked in Morko Drogheda as a dressmaker in her younger days.

She was predeceased by her husband Paul, in 2009, and daughter Jennifer Kerr, in August 2013.

She is survived by her sons, Liam, Castletown, Francis, Navan, daughters, Brenda Tolan, Wilkinstown, Michelle Renehan, Athboy, Yvonne Kozacek, Yorkshire, Pauline Laverty, Navan, Karen Bellew, Belfast; sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters, brothers-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

The funeral took place from St Patrick’s Church, Castletown, KP, to the local cemetery.

 

Paddy Tevlin, Carnaross

 The death occurred recently, peacefully at his residence, of Patrick (Paddy) Tevlin, Castlekieran, Carnaross, Kells. Deceased, who was in his 85th year, was a native of Carnaross and played with Carnaross GFC in his younger days.

Paddy spent a period working in Dublin before returning to Carnaross to farm full time. He was a well known farmer and a familiar face in the local cattle mart. In addition to his love of the land he had a keen interest in anything mechanical and was a gifted welder. He was very active until a few years ago when he suffered a stroke but made a great recovery.

He made the most of life welcoming his many visitors with his warm smile. A quiet man with a deep faith, he is sadly missed by his family, friends and neighbours.

Predeceased by his brother, Mattie, he is survived by his brothers, John and Phil; sister, Mamie Daly; sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and relatives.

The funeral Mass was celebrated by Monsignor John Hanly at St Kieran’s Church, Carnaross, and he was laid to rest in the Holy Family Cemetery, Carnaross, alongside his parents, John and Alice Tevlin.

Eunan Reilly, Navan

The regretted death occurred on 8th May last of Eunan Reilly, Bridge Street, Navan, at St Francis’ Hospice, Raheny, Dublin. A qualified butcher, he travelled the world and had a keen interest in the arts. He was also a plasterer, painter and decorator.

Son of the late Michael and Susan Reilly, he is survived by his brothers, Martin, Peter and Tomás, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

The funeral took place from St Mary’s Church, Navan, to St Mary’s Cemetery.
