Behaviour at under-age finals to be investigated

The behaviour of teams, players and mentors, at under-age finals was raised by Meath GAA Co Board assistant-secretary Mairead Delaney at Monday night's monthly meeting in Meath Hill.

The Dunshaughlin official cited two finals in the past week where the losing teams turned their backs on the presentation ceremony.

She also stated that the Co Board secretary Francis Flynn had a similar experience at a separate final.

“This is not acceptable behaviour at any level, but when children, under-age players, are involved, this cannot be condoned,” she said.

There was unanimous agreement amongst the delegates that the issues raised must be addressed.

St Colmcille’s delegate Pat O’Neill informed the meeting that his club was one of those involved and that he would be raising the matter urgently.
