The new cup was handed over to Co Board chairman Conor Tormey (centre) on Monday night's meeting in Meath Hill by former club chairman Paddy Callan (left), brother of the late Eddie Callan and current chairman Michael Crosby.

Meath Hill remembers the late Eddie Callan

Meath Hill GAA club presented a cup that will be known as the Eddie Callan Cup for the B FL Div 4 and it is one of a number of new titles for this year’s perpetual cups following a review of the current trophies by a committee chaired by Barney Allen.

The change in titles will be immediate with some 20 alterations sanctioned by delegates at this week's Meath GAA Co Board meeting in Meath Hill.

The JFC Cup, formerly known as the Matthew Ginnity Cup, will now be known as the Peter McDermott Cup.

The u-21 B HC cup will be the Dinny Donnelly Cup.

Up to 20 new titles were announced and there was also a discussion about the standard of medals that are presented for club competitions.

It was agreed that the trophy committee should also assess the standard of medals.

“There are no Irish cup manufacturers anymore, all the cups come from either England or China now,” stated Allen. A detailed list will be provided by the Co Board soon.
