Motorcycling enthusiasts converging on Kells
Thousands of visitors have started to arrive in Kells for this weekend's Kells Road Races, which are back after an absence of two years.
The event is expected to be worth hundreds of thousands of euro to businesses in the area.
Racing enthusiasts from all over the country and abroad will attend the biggest sporting event on the Meath calendar.
The motorcycle road races last took place in 2011, but due to extremely bad weather, it was a financial disaster for the Kells Motorcycle Racing Club. The previous year, the club had to abandon racing after three races, also due to the poor weather.
With over 115 competitors taking part this weekend, it promises to be an action packed festival of racing with the Kells Club welcoming racers from all over Ireland, England, Scotland, Isle of Man, Italy and New Zealand.
The year the Kells Road races are sponsored by Carole Nash and will be run in association with Road Racing Ireland.
Some of the 55 newcomers coming to Kells this year will be Dan Kneen from the Isle of Man, Connor Behan, Northwich, Gareth Keys, Lisburn and Davide Ansaldi, Italy.
The roads will close on Saturda at 1pm for practice and this will be followed by two classic races.
Roads close again on Sunday at 11am for racing and the first race will take place at 11.15am.
There will be disabled parking and viewing available near the start and finish area.
There will also be a bike park on the Kells Road and Kilskyre Road and car parks within walking distance of the race circuit.
