Jobs boost for Kells

 

A major announcement about two new companies locating in Kells, creating 50 to 60 jobs, is expected to be made in the coming weeks.
According to local auctioneer, Hugh Morris two companies are expected to make an announcement about locating in Kells very shortly and between them they will create up to 60 jobs.
One is believed to be a manufacturing business and the other a logistics and finance operation.
Mr Morris said the announcement came at a very exciting time for Kells as the new Regional Aid Map came into effect on Tuesday (1st July), which means that the Kells electoral area will now qualify for state aid for job creation.
Deputy Ray Butler confirmed that announcements on new jobs for Kells was imminent and said the Regional Aid Map which came into force this week was also very positive for the area.
“We will be trying to get the information out about the regional aid so that it can be used to its full potential,” he said.
It is widely predicted that the new regional aid map will provide a major jobs boost or Kells.
The Kells Electoral Area will now enjoy the supports and grant aid currently in place for job creation in the Border Midlands Western (BMW) region.
Mr Morris, who was responsible for bringing the Mafic Ireland company to Kells last year, said the inclusion of Kells in the Regional Aid Map is a game-changer for north Meath in terms of attracting new business.
“It will help level the playing field when bringing new companies into Ireland,” he said. “This is a huge bonus for Kells. A lot of companies ended up in the Dublin or BMW areas because of the grants available.”
Under the new Regional Aid Map, companies starting up in the Kells area would be entitled to grants of 30 per cent for small businesses, 20 per cent for medium businesses and 10 per cent for large businesses.
