Hard-earned victory for Drumconrath
Drumconrath took the JFC points from their crucial game against Navan O'Mahonys at Kilmainhamwood this evening with a 2-9 to 1-10 victory, but this was a hard-earned victory and the Navan men will surely feel they kicked the game away.
Drums were ahead by 1-6 to 0-5 at the interval with goal coming Stephen Crosby, b ut O'Mahonys substitute Gavin Fox blasted to the net four minutes into the second-half.
O'Mahonys had loads of chances and closed the gap to the minimum at one stage, but Derek Duff's goal sustained Drumconrath at the three-quarter stage and they held on to earn a place in the quarter-finals with a game to spare.
During the pre-match warm-up, Drumconrath enjoyed relatively dry and sunny conditions while at the other end of the gound, the Navan O'Mahonys players were lashed by a rainshower - maybe the Gods were sending a message with an early shower for the Navan men!
See next edition of Meath Chronicle for report, photographs and reaction from manager - out Tuesday. Also well done to Kilmainhamwood who handed out a free teamsheet with their Lotto envelope - hope I win it!!!!
