Hurlers in need of another manager
Now it's official - Meath hurlers are looking for a new manager following tonight's exit in the Leinster u-21 A HC against Kildare at Newbridge.
Manager Cillian Farrell confirmed that his tenure was officially over after the game - 'I don't know what the position is, the matter needs to be sorted out early and give the players some direction,' he stated.
At the June Co Board meeting in Meath Hill, the position of the hurling manager was raised as Meath's senior hurlers had exited the Christy Ring Cup at that stage.
Delegates were told at the meeting - 'Let it sit for the moment as the same management is in charge of the u-21s who are playing in July and we don't want to rock the boat.'
It would appear now that a new manager will have to be appointed, but the matter wasn't mentioned at last Monday night's Co Board meeting in Stamullen although it was reported that all outstanding matters in relation to expenses for the hurlers had been resolved.
Last year it was close to Christmas before a manager (Cillian Farrell was re-appointed) was in place. The selectors along with Cillian Farrell this year were Nick Fitzgerald and Kevin Dowd.
