Sponsorship boost for Meath Ladies ahead of All-Ireland
Meath ladies will be in action on Saturday evening in a televised (TG4) All-Ireland Ladies SFC first round qualifier against Cavan at Pairc Tailteann, 7pm throw in.
Meath will be marginal favourites to advance with their comfortable NFL Div 2 win over the Breffni side giving them an edge.
Cavan are operating at senior level for the first time and lost heavily (1-5 to 5-14) against Monaghan in the Ulster SFC.
Meath’s bid for provincial glory was ended by Laois in somewhat controversial circumstances by just two points despite a battling performance.
Meath will look to players of the calibre of Katie O’Brien, Laura Dempsey, Emma Troy, Jenny Rispin and team captain Shauna Bennett for inspiration.
There are no significant injury concerns ahead of the game.
The Meath players, manager and selectors and Co Board officials were in the Castle Arch Hotel Trim this evening for the formal launch of a new sponsorship deal with the Cusack Hotel Group with representatives from the four Meath establishments - Knightsbrook and Castle Arch in Trim plus Newgrange and Ardboyne in Navan.
Meath captain Shauna Bennett spoke briefly to www.meathchronicle.ie after the launch and suggested that her team will not be treating Cavan lightly. See video clip.
