Douglas double delights Trim
Alan Douglas fired home 2-1 in injury time to give Trim a dramatic 2-16 to 3-7 victory over Longwood in this SHC encounter at Pairc Tailteann today.
As the game slipped into injury time Trim trailed by two points but then Douglas came to the fore to secure his team's fourth win from four games played so far.
Douglas only recently returned from Australia and his overall contribution of 1-5 was very significant in ensuring his team overcame a tenacious Longwood side who looked to have done enough to win.
James Toher also made a hefty contribution to Trim's victory with eight points, six from frees, with some of the scores superbly taken.
The 'Wood led 2-4 to 0-7 at the interval with Coran Byrne and Damen Healy finding the net for them.
Anthony Healy added a spectacular over-head flicked goal in the second-half and it looked like they might make it across the line.
However, Trim, who dominated in the second-half, eventually got their reward for exerting sustained pressure when Douglas fired home his two added time goals to turn the game completely on its head.
