All-Ireland final place for Meath hurlers
Meath minor hurlers will meet either Kerry or Roscommon in the All-Ireland MHC B final on Saturday 6th September next after the Royal County today received a semi-final walkover.
Meath defeated Kildare in the quarter-final (0-14 to 2-7) while on Saturday last Westmeath defeated Armagh in their quarter-final.
The semi-final was fixed for Trim this Saturday at 2pm.
However, Westmeath have wirthdrawn from the competition.
It is understood (this is not confirmed) that Westmeath conceded a walkover arising out of some issues following their quarter-final victory last Saturday.
Earlier this year Meath lost to Westmeath in the Leinster MHL.
Meath would have been without Charlie Bird for Saturday's game after the young Boardsmill player was hospitalised last Friday (the day after the quarter-final victory in which he was sent-off for two yellow cards).
Bird had his appendix removed and is now recovering. He could be available for selection for the final.
Kerry will play Roscommon in the other semi-final this Saturday at Nenagh at 2pm
