Dunboyne and kildalkey advance

Dunboyne and Kildalkey advanced to the semi-finals of the SHC this evening with hard-earned victories over defending champions Kilmessan and last year's beaten finalists Longwood at Pairc Táilteann.

Dunboyne needed extra-time to get the better of Longwood in the second game in Navan as they progressed by 1-19 to 2-14 after the sides finished level at 0-13 apiece.

Dunboyne's Neil Hackett levelled in the final minute from, what many Longwood supporters considered as a soft free.

Christopher Cusack and Anthony Healy netted for Longwood in each half of extra-time, but crucially, Michael O'Grady aloso found the net for Dunboyne.

Neill Hackett also scored 10 points for Dunboyne.

Referee Richard Morris was subjected to lots of verbal abuse as he left the pitch and also as he made his way to his car as he left the stadium.

In the other quarter-final, Kildalkey negotiated Kilmessan by 2-12 to 2-9 in an exciting contest that saw Kilmessan finish with 14 after substitute Ryan Montague was red-carded.

Kilmessan were ahead by 2-2 to 1-3 at half-time with Nicky Horan scoring the goal of the championship so far when he doubled on a Darren Reilly free.

The exchanges got heated at the end and also in the dressing room area under the stand as the players returned to the dressing rooms after the game.
