Ardal ohanlon for comedy central

After a sold out Neil Delamere gig last month, The Central welcomes another popular star of comedy to its Navan Laughs gig in the form of Ardal O’Hanlon for its October gig.
While the comedian is best-known for his wonderful portrayal of Father Dougal in ‘Father Ted’ and his role in BBC’s ‘My Hero’, O’Hanlon’s vocation in life is as a stand-up comedian. A founding father of Dublin’s comedy scene, he moved to London where he quickly won the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year and was soon catapulted into the world of sitcom. However despite that distraction, he continued to tour successfully as a comedian and presented the ‘Stand Up Show’ on BBC for three series. More recently, he featured on ‘Live at the Apollo’ (BBC) and Michael McIntyre’s ‘Roadshow’ (BBC) not to mention his own ‘Dave’s One Night Stand’ (Dave) and a half-hour special for Comedy Central (USA). He has also appeared on the likes of ‘The Graham Norton Show’ and ‘Parkinson’.
As well as Father Ted, for which he won a British Comedy Award and Bafta nomination, Ardal’s TV credits include leading roles in comedy dramas such as ‘Big Bad World’ (ITV) and ‘Blessed’ (BBC). He will shortly be seen in ‘After Hours’, a new sitcom for Sky and briefly in ‘Cucumber’ (C4). He played a cat creature in ‘Dr Who’ (BBC), a dad in ‘London Irish’ (C4) and a seedy teacher in ‘Skins’ (C4). On RTE, Ardal has presented a number of documentaries including the celebrated ‘Leagues Apart’ (about great footballing rivalries in Europe) and, more recently, starred in the sitcom ‘Val Falvey TD’.
The Navan Laughs event will take place on Thursday 2nd October, with doors opening at 8.30pm and the show kicking off at 9pm. Tickets are available from The Central and www.ticketstop.ie for €12, while The Central’s Comedy Meal Deal – two courses plus gig ticket – is on offer for €27. Reservations on (046) 902 7999.
