Crosscountry title for coscoran
The Meath cross-country championship season got under way today at Stamullen in excellent conditions where the men's novice race had a large field on the starting line as Andrew Coscoran (pictured) set the pace.
The Star of the Sea athlete has had a great track season at junior level and is at present training for the European Cross-Country Championships.
At the finish line he was 100m clear of Richie Bell from Fr Murphy AC in second place with Abdullahi Abdulle of Dunboyne AC in third.
Young Abdullahi had the added satisfaction of leading his Dunboyne team to victory and bringing home the Dan Bagnall cup.
In the ladies race it was much closer contest, Shauna Moran was always up with the leaders and was the strongest runner all the way to the finish line for a merited victory
Eva McNelis of St Andrew's took second place and her club mate Anna Reid finished third. St Andrews were the team winners of the ladies.
