Bid for five continues at cork today
Colin Keane's bid for five more winners to set a record will continue at Cork today after he was denied a winner at Dundalk last night in the stewards' room when the Ger Lyons-trained Obliterator lost the feature event on the card to the Jim Bolger-trained Chance To Dance.
Keane needs five more winners this season to break a record set in 2011 by Joseph O'Brien who managed 57 winners. Keane is on 53 at the moment.
Keane's first ride at Cork today could get him off to a winning start with the Tom McCourt-trained Local Flier.
Last night at Dundalk Keane was first past the post on Obliterator, but Chance To Dance (Kevin Manning) lost some ground inside the final furlong and was beaten by a head.
STEWARDS REPORT
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Obliterator, ridden by CT Keane, winner, and Chance To Dance, ridden by KJ Manning, placed second, where it appeared Chance To Dance suffered interference.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Obliterator had improved his finishing position as a result of this interference and so they reversed the first and second placings, amending the result to read: 1, Chance To Dance; 2, Obliterator, and took no further action.
