Mary strikes gold in wicklow

Navan Athletic Club was well represented at the Leinster Cross Country Championships at Avondale in Wicklow yesterday where there was success for Mary Watters.

Mary took gold in the Ladies over-50 category and was also part of the Meath team that took gold in the Ladies inter-county category alongside Mary Reilly (navan) and the Trim duo of Ann Tobin and Carrie Brogan.

Another Navan athlete Ciara Rooney put in a strong performance in the novice ladies finishing in 12th position and helping the Meath team to a second place finish.

In the u-12 boys Marcus Clarke and Tadgh Hanrahan both put in strong performances as the Meath team earned a silver medal.

Maeve Hanrahan and Eva O’Donovan also competed in the girls u-14 and u-16 races.
