New rehab website to benefit navan childrens respite centre
Rehab Group has launched a new shopping website called RehabDeals.ie, where consumers can grab bargains on a range of high end products including Apple iPads, Samsung TVs and Nespresso coffee machines.
The new website will raise funds for the refurbishment of The Meadows respite centre in Navan.
The website operates in a completely different way from other shopping sites. “Players pay a small fee to view the price of any product they want,” explains John Fleming, Director, Rehab Deals. “Once they see the price offered, the player has 10 seconds to decide if they want to accept or not. If they accept the product will be dispatched to them but if they do not accept, the price of the item drops for all other players.”
“This simple mechanism creates a lot of interesting decisions for people” according to Fleming. “When people are offered a price, they know that if they wait a while, the price will drop as more people view the deal. However, if someone else accepts the deal, then the item is gone - so there are pros and cons to waiting and everyone has to decide what they think the best strategy is.”
The company’s Facebook page reveals that Charlotte Hannon from Sligo grabbed a deal on a Toshiba HD flat screen TV and Geraldine from Limerick snapped up an Apple iPad at a 40% discount. A look at the Rehab Deals website shows items such as a Sonic Gaming Chair and tickets to a sold out show at the Abbey Theatre were acquired by players for as little as €5.
When asked about delivery or other charges, Fleming was clear, “There is free delivery on every item on the site and no sneaky card processing charges so when a player sees a price, it is absolutely the total amount they will pay.”
The funds raised from the website assist specific projects within Rehab Centres around the country. The first to benefit from the new source of funds will be the refurbishment project at 'The Meadows', a children's respite service catering for 70 families in Navan.
