Meath to play at home
Leinster Council today confirmed that Meath will face Wicklow in their Leinster SFC quarter-final in Páirc Táilteann on Sunday 14th June.
The match will mark over 20 years since Meath last played in Navan in the Leinster SFC and will give a whole generation of Royal supporters a chance to sample the atmosphere at a home championship match for the first time.
Meath last played in the Leinster SFC in Páirc Tailteann on 28th May 1995 where they struggled for periods before eventually seeing off Offaly by 1-15 to 1-5.
Meath Co Board PRO Martin O’Halloran expressed his delight that Leinster championship football would be returning to the Brews Hill venue.
“We are delighted to have home venue for our Leinster SFC opener next June. It will give the Meath fans a chance to get out in huge numbers to support Mick O’Dowd’s side in what should be an exciting year for the team,” O’Halloran told meathchronicle.ie
“There are many exciting developments happening in Meath GAA over the next few years and having a championship game back in Páirc Táilteann is hugely positive for us.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Johnny Mcgee and his Wicklow side to Navan. I’m sure there will be a massive crowd at the game and the stadium will be in great condition to host such a prestigious occasion,” concluded O’Halloran.
