Weather warning in effect for leinster
A Status Orange weather warning has been issued for Leinster counties this morning, the second most serious category of alerts from Met Eireann.
The rainfall and flood alert for counties Dublin, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Wexford and Wicklow will remain in force until 9am on Friday.
Met Eireann says spells of heavy rain and some local spot flooding can be expected. It will be very windy with strong to gale force southeasterly winds and poor visibility in places.
Temperatures will be 11 or 12 degrees and the strong to gale force winds will ease and veer southerly in the afternoon.
